The Cantina Sociale white wines, zone by zone
The hills surrounding the city of Trento are our vineyards. Their different altitudes, exposure to sunlight and soils allow for a considerable variety of cultivation.
Müller Thurgau grapes are quite at home on the hills to the east of Trento, in the Civezzano area as well as around the slopes of Valsorda.
Aromatic Trentino white wines like Gewürztraminer, Moscato and the base for sparkling wine thrive on Mount Calisio, where the mineral rich soil provides a strong flavour.
More structured white wines like Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio benefit from the calcareous soil with clay inserts in areas around Villazzano, Oltrecastello and Povo.
The best Chardonnay grapes, for more structured and full bodied wines are cultivated in the Ravina area in ideal gravelly and silty soil
