The Cantina Sociale di Trento rosé wine is Lagrein Kretzer. It is produced by making a white wine out of red grapes like Lagrein to obtain a decidedly different wine to be served chilled that is light and delicate compared to the red Dunkel version.
These grapes are grown on small vines at an altitude of no more than 400 m ASL, preferably on well drained soil.
The Lagrein grapes destined for this kind of wine are harvested at the end of September and made to stand in their skins for 12-24 hours; once separated from the solid part the must is fermented like in white wine at a controlled temperature of 19/21 degrees to preserve the freshness and fragrance of the wine. It is held in steel tanks until the following spring and then bottled before the summer.
The Cantina Sociale rosé has a characteristic light ruby colour and a fragrance with echoes of cherry and raspberry.
